Gaming PC requirements
| Item | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | x64 | Modern x64 |
| Memory | 4 GB | 8 GB or more |
| Network | Local network connection | Wired (Ethernet) connection |
| Permissions | Administrator account for installation | Administrator account for installation |
A RAM-based overlay uses part of system memory, so more memory is recommended for PCs running demanding games.
Disk space
- UWF engine: keep at least 20% to 30% free space on the protected volume to accommodate the overlay.
- VHDX engine on Windows Pro: at least 64 GB free is recommended for the parent VHDX and the differencing disk.
- A separate drive for the games library makes updates easier to manage.
Master Console requirements
- Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit.
- .NET runtime included with the installer.
- Internet connection for license activation and renewal.
- Connection to the same local network as the gaming PCs, preferably with a static IP address.
Network requirements
| Port | Protocol | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 47811 | TCP | Encrypted client-to-Master connection (TLS WebSocket) |
| 47810 | UDP | Signed discovery beacons on the local network |
If you split devices across different subnets or VLANs, allow TCP 47811 between them and add the Master's address manually on the clients.
Windows security features
RebootGuard works alongside core Windows security features and does not require disabling them:
- Secure Boot.
- Microsoft Defender.
- Memory Integrity (HVCI).
- TPM.
Game compatibility
Most games run as usual because protection works at the disk level. Games with kernel-level anti-cheat are still in testing, and results are published on the Compatibility page.
Compatibility is not guaranteed for any specific game and may change with game or anti-cheat updates.
Internet and licensing
The Master needs internet access for activation, and then periodically before the offline grace period ends. Gaming PCs do not need internet access for protection to work.
Installation and setup
How to install the Master Console and the Client agent on gaming PCs, activate your license, enroll devices and choose the right protection engine for your Windows edition.
User guide
Day-to-day management from the Master Console: one-click protection, maintenance modes, exclusions, the overlay, and updating Windows and games.
Troubleshooting
Fixes for common problems: devices not appearing or offline, changes not saved or not discarded, overlay full, license errors and anti-cheat issues.
